As a single mother, Toni works two jobs to provide for herself and her young son. Despite this reality, Toni struggles to make ends meet. Due to the high cost of health insurance, Toni remains uninsured, despite suffering from PTSD, bi-polar, and epilepsy. All of the medication she takes is all paid for out-of-pocket. Concerns over cost have resulted in her taking half the medication she’s supposed to. Unfortunately, Toni falls into the Medicaid gap and is ineligible for health insurance tax credits. If Missouri expanded Medicaid, this working mom would be able to afford much-needed health care. With better medical coverage, Toni would be able to begin building a better future not only for herself but also for her son.
