Oscar, 61, lives in St. Louis County and is disabled. He was also uninsured. In the past, Oscar received health insurance through his employer, but even then he faced difficulties because of his health. “You can get a provider and they tell you where you can and where you can’t go, and where to pay your money, and [life] doesn’t always work like that.” Limited medical services, impacted Oscar greatly. “You have a lot to deal with and you have to go to different people to be treated for that.” However, almost three months ago, Oscar was able to purchase a Marketplace insurance plan. Although Oscar cannot confidently say how his new provider will treat him, he is waiting to see how his new plan works out.
