Kelli, Carthage

In December 2017, Kelli’s 2-year-old son had to receive a life-saving treatment for immune thrombocytopenia. This treatment costs $10,000 and although her family has Anthem insurance through her husband’s employer, their insurance only covered a small portion of the cost – around $1,500. Thankfully, since Kelli’s husband is a full-time student continuing his education, their son has secondary insurance through Medicaid and they have not yet received a bill for any remaining costs.
