Research shows that a majority of individuals with serious mental illness and substance abuse disorders experience the first onset between 15 and 25 years of age. Young adults in this situation are frequently uninsured. As a result, they often struggle to access the services that could put them on a path to recovery. Instead, these young adults find themselves on a path to disability as treatable conditions becomes debilitating crises.

Missouri is considering a pilot program that would provide approximately 1,900 uninsured young adults facing a serious mental illness or substance abuse disorder with Medicaid coverage targeted to meet their mental and physical health needs. For these young adults, this coverage could make the difference between disability and independence.

Please join us in telling the Department of Social Services that we support this proposal.

Note: We will collect signatures through Wednesday, March 23rd to ensure we deliver your voice to the Missouri Department of Social Services on time.
