After years of advocating for and preparing for health reform, the opening of the new Missouri Health Insurance Marketplace is just around the corner. The Marketplace will open on October 1, giving consumers a new way to compare and buy insurance plans.
Missourians can access the Marketplace after October 1 by going to www.covermissouri.org. They will be able to shop online for the health insurance plan that is right for their family. If a consumer is looking for assistance, they can call an 800 number or go to one of the hundreds of Navigators and Certified Application Counselors throughout the state, who are prepared to offer in-person help in understanding the options.
Some of the benefits of the Marketplace include:
- An ability to easily compare plans, apples to apples
- A variety of plan types, allowing each family to select the plan that is best for them
- Good coverage: All plans will be required to cover ten “Essential Benefits,” including doctor visits, prescription drugs, hospital care, and maternity care
- Financial help: Many Missourians will qualify for help paying for their monthly premiums, depending on how much they earn.
If you’ve got questions about the new Marketplace, we invite you to join an upcoming conference call or educational program. A list of upcoming programs and calls can be found on our Events page.
